About BlackHawk
BlackHawk has been captivating fans for over 20 years with their unique harmony in voices, songs and connection with fans. The band’s distinctive hits of the ’90s have sold over 7 million albums and continue to attract thousands to their electrifying live performances. Founding members Henry Paul, previously of The Outlaws and The Henry Paul Band, and Dave Robbins, who had written hits for Eric Clapton and Kenny Rogers, combined their individual creativity to approach country music with smart songs and unique harmonies.
Their debut album, BlackHawk, launched in 1993 and quickly went double-platinum, featuring hits like “Goodbye Says It All” and “Every Once in a While”. Despite not fitting the standard country mold, they continued to produce hit albums such as Strong Enough, Love & Gravity, and Sky’s The Limit. However, in 1999, at the height of their success, band member Van Stephenson was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma. Upon his death in 2001, the band committed to raising awareness and funds for cancer research, amassing nearly a quarter of a million dollars for The Van Stephenson Memorial Cancer Fund.
Despite the loss, BlackHawk continues to honor its past while forging its future. They remain committed to producing new music and delivering stellar live performances. Their recent works include the well-received 2015 Brothers Of The Southland album, a forthcoming Christmas record, and an acoustic greatest hits album. They continue to engage their audiences, many of whom are younger fans, with music that stands the test of time. According to Henry Paul, the band still sounds better than the records at each live performance, owing it to the music, themselves, Van Stephenson, and the fans.
